TECHNICAL INSTRUCTION
My curiosity with technical diving started the day I became a certified Open
Water diver. There was a whole underwater world out there
to explore, but I was limited to no decompression dives and a max depth of 60 feet.
I didn't waste much time in expanding my knowledge and list of
certifications and eventually completed my first technical training in 1998 (Advanced Nitrox).
My training has continued over the years and includes the rank of Technical Instructor.
My personal philosophy is that a Technical diver must be able to handle most emergencies with very little or no help.
This is why my technical classes focus on Gear Configuration, Advanced Buoyancy Control,
and emergency scenarios. Everyone can benefit from technical training. You don't have to want to dive deep on doubles or do decompression stops
to gain valuable diving knowledge from these courses. The majority of technical training can be done within recreational limits and with recreational gear. Technical training will make you a better
overall diver!
All of my classes are taught on your schedule, and for the most part you can choose the dive site. I strongly recommend to all my students (recreational or technical divers) to interview their instructor before signing up for the class.
Technical Classes I am currently teaching:
The TDI Intro to Tech Diving course is perfect for the recreational diver who is ready to expand their knowledge and skills, but not yet ready for a Tech course.
You may be a little overwhelmed with all of the training agencies and
courses being offered to advanced your SCUBA training and overall knowledge.
This course will help clear up the confusion and point you in the right
direction to achieve your desired goals.
The specific skills this course will highlight are:
- Advanced Buoyancy Control
- Gas Management
- Situational Awareness
- Trim
- Gear Configuration and Selection
I recommend that you have both Advanced Open Water and Nitrox
certification before signing up for this class.
The TDI Advanced Nitrox Course qualifies divers to use
Enriched Air Nitrox (EAN 21 through EAN 100) to a depth of 130 feet, during dives
that do not require staged decompression. With very little modification you may be able to take this class with your recreational gear. This class is ideal if you want to extend your bottom
time in shallower depths or if you are considering using a rebreather.
The specific skills this course will highlight are:
- Equipment Requirements
- Dive Planning
- Oxygen Tracking
- Blending Methods
We will meet for one day of classroom, review your equipment, and go over dive planning.
There are a MINIMUM of four (4) dives and a minimum of 100 minutes in the water for this course (max depth 130 feet). You must have the bookwork
completed before class, and be able to take the final written test. You may take this course in conjunction
with the Decompression Procedures course.
Prerequisites:
- 18 Years or Older
- 25 Logged Dives
- Advanced Open Water Diver
- Nitrox Diver
- Completion of Liability Release and Medical History Forms
The TDI Decompression Procedures course prepares you for planned staged decompression diving.
It allows you to dive to a maximum operating depth of 150 feet.
The specific skills this course will highlight are:
- Kit Set-Up
- Equipment Requirements
- Decompression Techniques
- Decompression Breathing Gases
- Gas Management
- Contingency Planning
We will meet for one day of classroom, review your equipment, and go over dive planning,
There are a MINIMUM of four (4) dives. Two (2) of the
dives must be deeper than 100 feet, with a max depth of 150 feet. You must have

Prerequisites:
- 18 Years or Older
- 25 Logged Dives
- Rescue Diver
- Deep Diver

The TDI Technical Divemaster Course qualifies divers to assist a TDI instructor during technical courses. They may also supervise and conduct dives for certified
technical divers, provided the activities are comparable to the Technical Divemaster's prior training.
The specific skills this course will highlight are:
- Technical dive planning and dive control
- Demonstrate skills to student divers
- Underwater and surface communication
- Accident management
- Diver assistance
Prerequisites:
- 18 Years or Older
